Want to fight for your open space? Read This

To Tell You How To Go About This, We Have Spoken With Three Experts. They Break The Process Down Into Steps You Can Follow. If You Have More Questions, Please Contact LandgruZ And Our Experts.

» Find Out Who Owns The Plot And What The History Of Ownership Is Check The Property Card Register In The Land Record Section Of The Collector's Office. You Can Also Get A Search Done On The History Of Ownership. All Land Records Are Accessible To The Public. You Can Even Use A Private Search Agent, Who Can Be Found Outside The Sub-Registrar's Office, For A Fee.

» Find Out If The Plot Has Been Reserved For A Specific Public Purpose For This, Check The Development Plan (DP) That Is Available At Every Ward Office. It Is Also Available With The DP Department At The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Headquarters.

» If You Run Into Roadblocks Getting This Information, Use The Right To Information (RTI) Act File An RTI Application Asking Your Ward Office For A List Of Plots Reserved For Gardens, Playgrounds (PG), Recreation Grounds (RG) And Any Other Public Utilities Such As Police Stations, Hospitals, Schools, Etc. Ask Them To Give This Information With The Postal Address Of The Plot, The CT Survey Number And Nearby Landmarks.

» Use The RTI To Find Out If Structures Have Been Constructed Illegally Ask For Layout Plan Of Each Area Or Locality. These Will Contain Details Of Plots And Structures And Help You To Understand If The Structure That You See Has Been Sanctioned By Law Or Not.

» Finally, If You See An Instance Of Encroachment Or Land Grabbing, Here's What You Should Do
¨        Call BMC At 1916 To Register A Complaint
¨        Call The Police Control At 100 And Give Them The Complaint Number
¨        A Written Complaint Should Also Be Made With The BMC, Preferably The Ward Officer
¨        Issue A Legal Notice To The Encroacher Through An Advocate Citing Legal Provisions
¨        If BMC Officers Don't Take Action And You Suspect Corruption, Lodge A Complaint With The Anti Corruption Bureau
¨       You Can Also File A Civil Suit Against The Builder Claiming Compensation
